Principles only on paper?

The other day I happened to go to a hospital for a minor consultation. I was told that the doctor will step in at 10:00AM. I was there at 10:05AM and was the second patient waiting for the doctor. There was a big board at the hospital reception which reads - 'Kindly do not try to use your contacts, money, muscle power, political power, relationship or anything else to disturb the sequence of the consultation'. I was impressed.

It was 11:00AM and there was no announcement yet giving the whereabouts of the doctor. After some more time when the hall was totally filled with the patients, the staff slowly made a call to the doctor. All the doctor has to do to get to the hospital was to get into an elevator and press the 'G' button.. Yes, the doc lives upstairs. They have made the patients wait for more than an hour. I realized the trick here is, had the doc come at the promised time 10:00AM, I will hardly have a wait time of 5 minutes and so will the rest of the patients. All the chairs in the hospital wont be made proper use of. And he wouldn't appear to be a very busy doctor.

The doc has pasted lofty principles on the wall to impress people. However, the strategy of making the patients wait for their TRP ratings totally disappointed me. I would in fact call it poor organizing. The role of being a doctor in itself is a very respectable one. You are serving the people and you have the ability and luxury to serve them without causing them the pain and trouble of waiting for you unnecessarily. So Mr.Doc make use of the facility and make it a USP that the maximum wait time in your hospital is 15 minutes or something of that sort and save people a lot of trouble. U will still remain the same busy doctor!!

Killers.. Get off the roads!!!

If you want to go to a movie, you go to the theater and stand in the queue and 'wait' to get the tickets. If you go to board a train or a bus, you 'wait' for the scheduled time of departure and accept any further delays to it. Where does your patience get hidden when you drive on the road?? Do you even know the fact that you are not only putting your life at risk but also the other innocent living creatures who for God's sake still have hopes on their lives?? None of you show any respect to traffic rules. When you are on a two wheeler, you tend to slide on the road like rat on the skating wheels into every narrow space, where even the pedestrians by walk wouldn't dare enter. When you are holding the steering of a car, you almost feel as though you are on a F1 track and just keep marching ahead blowing the damn horn indiscriminately. For that matter, no one seems to pay even the slightest attention to that irritating horn anymore. Do you even dream of maintaining a safe distance from the other vehicle ever in your life?

Your headlights always on 'high beam' are so flashy that it feels as though you run a part time eye clinic and are on a hunt to damage the eyes of the people coming in the opposite direction. I don't even want to speak on the insanity of people who come in the wrong direction out of the blue with no headlights in the night.

Autos!! I can speak volumes about you, the auto drivers. How do you manage to stuff people in it with two people on either sides hanging in the air giving the effect of wings to your vehicle?? Do you even have something called rear view at all? And you, the passengers please take a bus if all of you want to travel in the same vehicle. Wake the hell up and stop being stuffed like a garbage!

If you are doing all these in ignorance, I will have a kindergarten kid enlighten you. But, if you are deliberate, please go and find some other ways of killing yourself which doesn't harm others. Let me travel in peace!

Gimme a break!!!

People in this world have completely ceased to respect the freedom and privacy of other individuals. They tend to venture into your life even with just the first or second encounter with you. If someone who is very close to you gives you some advice, that is to some extent understandable and the discussion would be purely a friendly one.

I had this experience a few weeks ago. I went to a function in a very traditional salwar. One of the aunties whom I met only once before this encounter happens to comment on my dressing style. I was completely shocked to hear the words, "In this place all married people have to come in sarees for all the functions". Oh! Trust me.. This was not just a comment. She continued to lecture on it for almost 7 minutes while I was disinterestedly looking at my watch and hoping that someone would call her and save me the speech. I am not sure if they will be equally receptive if I answer them back with my modern ideology. I don't understand why people delve so much into the lives of other individuals.

When will the intruders start respecting the ideas and freedom of others??? Come on now! Gimme a break.. Stay away folks.. Keep your opinions to yourselves. I live my own life!

Gold and Indian Women

Indian ladies are somehow drifted towards gold more than anybody else I have observed. They will be more than happy if more days like "Akshaya thruthiya" are invented. Actually they don't just need a reason to buy gold. They buy ornaments just like kids buy chocolates..! The more and more social gatherings a lady is involved in, the more and more is her urge to buy newer and nicer varieties. With the uprise in the gold price in recent times, even the husbands are left with no option but to oblige and hand them over with the necessary credit cards/cash. They say its an investment too..! This crazy is even passed on to the younger generations. Over the past few years, gold shops have expanded their market so wide that the number has increased five fold. And the petty thieves have now become purely 'gold' thieves due to the rapidly increasing prices. I don't know what all this will lead to! May be we will run out of our gold resources one fine day.. Awaiting destiny..!
