People in this world have completely ceased to respect the freedom and privacy of other individuals. They tend to venture into your life even with just the first or second encounter with you. If someone who is very close to you gives you some advice, that is to some extent understandable and the discussion would be purely a friendly one.
I had this experience a few weeks ago. I went to a function in a very traditional salwar. One of the aunties whom I met only once before this encounter happens to comment on my dressing style. I was completely shocked to hear the words, "In this place all married people have to come in sarees for all the functions". Oh! Trust me.. This was not just a comment. She continued to lecture on it for almost 7 minutes while I was disinterestedly looking at my watch and hoping that someone would call her and save me the speech. I am not sure if they will be equally receptive if I answer them back with my modern ideology. I don't understand why people delve so much into the lives of other individuals.
When will the intruders start respecting the ideas and freedom of others??? Come on now! Gimme a break.. Stay away folks.. Keep your opinions to yourselves. I live my own life!
I totally agree on this. Some people think that they have churned all the customs & traditions and imbibed/assimilated into their bodies. I think there is no end to this discussion. Best thing is to just ignore them and keep going on!!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by freedom and privacy???? lollzzzz...:)
ReplyDeleteBefore expecting it(The RESPECT) 4m others, you should also give the respect to our tradition and culture. Nobody will say that you have to follow all these things all the time. But we should atleast..in those traditional functions. They are still doing those things becoz we shouldn't forget all those.Arey baba...scared of upcoming generations...:(
@Srideepti: If we ignore them, how will they ever realize? I don't want to be lectured on things I am not interested in.
ReplyDelete@Shriku: Can you give me one good reason as to why saree is traditional and salwar is not? Can I presume as somebody who is very keen about traditions you always wear a dhothi to all the functions?
Hmm You are girl of 21St century.. You should be able to make your decision.. So move on kid.. Aunty did what she thought was good for you. You do what you think is good for you. tomorrow when your daughter will come and tell MOM MOM i have girl friend and i am gonna marry her.. dont come back crying..world changing...
ReplyDelete@Sandy: She wasn't my mom. She was a stranger..
ReplyDelete@Sandy: by the way, i just gave an instance indicating how intrusive people are.. its really irritating when u have people on ur street noticing you each time u go out and later insist u to tell where u had been to... mind u every time... very very irritating.
ReplyDeletei can give u many other examples if it is not enough irritating for you..
@sravani: I didn't mention abt saree and salwar...my intention is...there is nothing wrong in what that aunty did. I think she already explained to u y saree is more traditinal...
ReplyDeletebtw I love to wear dhothis and kurthas to all the functions.
